Labor Story

I wanted to write down my labor story before I forgot most of it. So it was a Thursday and I was feeling pretty good, 35 weeks and 6 days. When your pregnant with twins you have a stress test twice a week from week 28 until they're born. I went in on Monday of that week the doctor had checked me that day and I was at a 4. She told me to watch for signs. I had told my mother that I didn't know what labor was, she said I would figure it out when I was in labor. So I didn't worry about it. I really wanted to have them on Wednesday of that week because it was January 19 which was my late aunts birthday, so that day I was really looking for signs. Little did I know I was in labor. I went in on Thursday January 20th to have a stress test. Let me just tell I loved I mean loved being pregnant but that day I was ready to have these babies, so I was trying to talk my doctor into an earlier date then January 31.  She said she didn't think their lungs were ready and I would have to wait, but she would check anyway. I was at a 7 and 100% effaced (she also could feel little Bentley's feet). Yes I was at a 7 and I had no idea I was in labor. I was told I got my wish and she would meet my at the hospital at 6.  We had to wait until 6 because Evan the father of my children was working in Logan and I wasn't about to have my children without their father. So I called Evan and of course he didn't believe me, but soon headed home. The pictures are of me before I went to the hospital and after my doctors appointment as you can tell I'm really tried.

After I left the doctors I went to my sisters and called the rest of my family. I was really just hanging out and laughing, my doctor called and said she wanted me to head to the hospital so I didn't have them in the back-seat of a car. My mother and I went and got my bags and then headed to the hospital. When I got there, there was a couple talking in front of labor and deliver, I asked them what to do and then told them I was in labor. The man was laughing and thought for sure theres no way I was in labor. Then I just walked in and asked the nurses what to do. They got my room ready. And told me if I felt like I was going to poop my pants to let them know. Then I waited for Evan to make it to the hospital and for my doctor.  I didn't ever need anything for the pain expect for when I had my c-section. The next pictures are of use waited for my c-section

When I found out we were having twins I wanted a C-section. I wanted one because I know if I had one I wouldn't have to worry about anything going wrong with the babies. I didn't want to have one naturally and one C-section, I've heard scary stories and I did't want that  happening to me. So when Bentley was bum down its was pretty good news at least for me!! I knew I was going to have a C-section for most of my pregnancy, so I thought I was fine.  But when I was in the operating room and getting a spinal tap I started to wig out. Not because I was going to be a mom for the first time, not because the doctors were cutting me open. But because I couldn't feel my legs. The only thoughts that went throughout my head was, "I can't feel my legs, I'm I ever going to feel my legs again". It took about 30  minutes from when they started until the babies where out. Bentley Tait Cornell was born first at 6:27 p.m. at 18 1/2 in. long and 6 lb 8 oz. Then came Chloe Jean Cornell she was born at 6:28 p.m. she was also 18 1/2 in. long and she weighed 7 lb 4 oz. Yep I was carrying around almost 14 pounds of baby and I was month early.  I'm sure if they waited until I was 38 weeks my babies would have been 8 or 9 pound each. I'm glad they came when they did.

The twins were prefect, their little lungs worked great from the start. We thought that maybe they would have to stay a few days at the hospital before we could take them home, but they were fine. I don't know what I did right, but I'm going to try and remember for my next pregnancy. My doctor joked and said she didn't even have one the size of my smallest. Sorry for the over load of pictures and my long story but this is mostly for the twins so they can read it when they're older.
